Joe Biden has said ‘we’re going to win this’ as he leads in several key battleground states (Picture: AP) A furious Donald Trump has warned Joe Biden off ‘wrongfully’ claiming victory in the US election, as the Democrat closes in on the White House. The president flew into a rage on Twitter, as his rival told crowds he was on course to ‘win the race’ in a speech in Delaware on Friday night. The US leader warned that legal proceedings were ‘just beginning’ as he continued to claim the election was ‘rigged’ – despite no evidence to suggest foul play. He wrote: ‘Joe Biden should not wrongfully claim the office of the President. I could make that claim also. Legal proceedings are just now beginning!’ He added: ‘I had such a big lead in all of these states late into election night, only to see the leads miraculously disappear as the days went by. ‘Perhaps these leads will return as our legal proceedings move forward!’ The Associated Press claims Biden has got a total of 264 electoral college votes and puts Trump on 214, with 270 needed to win the race. Other outlets have not called Arizona for Biden, putting the Democrat candidate on 253. Biden doubled his lead in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania on Friday night, with one forecaster already declaring him the next President of the United States. {“@context”:“https:\/\/schema.org”,“@type”:“VideoObject”,“name”:“Metro.co.uk”,“duration”:“T1M55S”,“thumbnailUrl”:“https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2020\/11\/06\/08\/35324838-0-image-a-4_1604652368482.jpg”,“uploadDate”:“2020-11-06T08:32:07+0000”,“description”:“US Presidential candidate, Joe Biden, says: ‘We are feeling good about where things stand.’”,“contentUrl”:“https:\/\/videos.metro.co.uk\/video\/met\/2020\/11\/06\/8228337884813018279\/480x270_MP4_8228337884813018279.mp4”,“height”:270,“width”:480} To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video {“@context”:“https:\/\/schema.org”,“@type”:“VideoObject”,“name”:“Metro.co.uk”,“duration”:“T2M28S”,“thumbnailUrl”:“https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2020\/11\/07\/08\/35359928-0-image-a-1_1604736959190.jpg”,“uploadDate”:“2020-11-07T08:15:36+0000”,“description”:“Democrat Joe Biden said Friday (November 6) that he was going to win the U.S. presidency as his lead grew over President Donald Trump in battleground states, although television networks held off from declaring him the victor as officials continued to count votes.”,“contentUrl”:“https:\/\/videos.metro.co.uk\/video\/met\/2020\/11\/07\/5281291837997206813\/480x270_MP4_5281291837997206813.mp4”,“height”:270,“width”:480} To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Joe Biden should not wrongfully claim the office of the President. Perhaps these leads will return as our legal proceedings move forward! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 6, 2020 Trump is said to be ‘angry, frustrated’ and watching non-stop TV, as he attempts to contest election results in states including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia and Michigan. Meanwhile, Biden said last night that although he did not have a final declaration, ‘the numbers tell us a clear and convincing story’. He said: ‘We’re going to win this race, just look at what has happened since yesterday – 24 hours (ago), we were behind in Georgia, now we’re ahead, and we’re going to win that state. 24 hours ago, we were behind in Pennsylvania and we are going to win Pennsylvania. ‘Now we’re ahead, we’re winning in Arizona, winning in Nevada, in fact our lead just doubled in Nevada. ‘We’re on track to 300 Electoral College votes, and look at the national numbers. We’re going to win this race with a clear majority with a nation behind us.’ Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@metro.co.uk. For more stories like this, check our news page.
