After insisting that systemic racism ‘has got to change’ following George’s death at the hands of police officers, the no-nonsense presenter turned to address the President’s tweet which saw him threaten protestors with military action. ‘Donald Trump did what he so often does, he poured fuel onto the fire,’ Piers began. ‘He cited a racist policeman from the 60s who advocated looting leads to shooting, basically telling black American’s who are protesting, we’re going to start shooting you people. ‘Now, I don’t support the looting, I don’t support the rioting, I never think that helps anything, but I do understand the rage and the anger. ‘And I do understand that when the President of the United States tweets something that inflammatory, it’s going to make things ten times worse. Trump has got to stop putting fuel onto this fire. ‘He’s got to calm things down.
