The heavily edited 30-second ad sees Obama’s head superimposed upon the shoulders of one of four men as they watch the presumptive Democratic nominee speak about kids jumping on his lap during his time as a lifeguard. The four are watching a basketball game on TV when Biden comes on to make a speech about how children used to rub his leg to ‘watch his hair come back up again’ at a public swimming pool. He says: ‘The kid used to come up and reach in the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and watch the hair come back up again. So I learned about roaches, I learned about kids jumping on my lap and I loved kids jumping on my lap.’ Obama’s face is superimposed into the video (Picture: Twitter) Trump’s video was based on an Allstate Insurance ad that features Dennis Haysbert watching a college basketball game with friends (Picture: Twitter) As the men with Obama turn to look at him, the former president raises his hands and asks: ‘What?’ The voice clip reportedly comes from a genuine speech Biden did when a swimming pool he worked at as a teenager was renamed in his honour in Wilmington, Delaware in 2017. It features some of a longer set of remarks that focused on his experience working as the only white lifeguard at the public pool which was mostly used by black people. The doctored video Trump tweeted is based on an Allstate Insurance ad that features Dennis Haysbert watching a college basketball game with friends. Although it ends with ‘Trump-Pence 2020 Make American Great Again,’ a campaign official has said is not one of their campaign ads. It comes after Obama publicly endorsed his former running mate for president in a video posted last Tuesday. In the footage, he said: ‘Choosing Joe to be my vice president was one of the best decisions I ever made, and he became a close friend and I believe Joe has all the qualities we need in a President right now.
