He then boasted the US had ‘crystal clean air’ and blamed ‘pollution’ on China, India and Russia. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, the president was pushed on the ‘very real and present danger’ posed by the climate crisis and asked if he believed it was a threat. Trump replied: ‘I believe that there is a change in weather, it used to be called global warming, then it was called climate change. Now it’s extreme weather.’ He said the Prince of Wales pushed him on the environmental threat of global warming and climate change and spoke passionately about protecting the planet for future generations. He wants to make sure future generations have good climate as opposed to a disaster. ‘And I agree.’ The climate crisis is said to be among topics the Theresa May spoke to Trump about when she met him at Number 10 yesterday. In a letter to the prime minister, 250 academics called on her to challenge the president, saying his ‘reckless approach is a threat to the whole world’.
