Kim has opened up about Kanye’s polarising views (Picture: Getty Images for Harper’s Bazaar) Kim Kardashian has copped some backlash in seemingly ‘standing by’ as her husband, Kanye West, supports Donald Trump. Now the reality star has explained why she lets Kanye be Kanye, admitting that perhaps without his support of the president being so public she might not have been able to successfully lobby for the commutation of Alice Marie Johnson’s sentence. Speaking with Alec Baldwin, Kim said: ‘Alice always says if it wasn’t for Kanye wasn’t speaking up in support of Trump, then she would still be in jail. She says it all the time.’ Kim says the Paris robbery changed her (Picture: Jackie Brown / SplashNews.com) However, is it always worth it having Kanye make some rather inflammatory comments, while wearing the Make America Great Again cap? It’s all about allowing her husband to have his own views and respecting them – which, when you boil it down to that, you really can’t call her out on. ‘I let him be who he wants to be,’ Kim told Alec. ‘I let him have his own views and opinions, even if they’re different from mine.’ She added: ‘For me, I love letting my husband be who he is. [We] definitely have conversations if I don’t understand something in private and talk about that.’ Now we’d love to see that aired on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, just saying. The entrepreneur has turned a new leaf in 2018, becoming somewhat of a campaigner for those that don’t enjoy the same sort of lofty platform she does as one of the most recognisable and influential faces in entertainment. But it came at a cost, after she admitted everything changed after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in 2016. Two years on, and she believes the horrific incident allowed her to reflect on her ‘self-worth’ and how she shouldn’t be defined by how much money she has in the bank. She said: ‘My life has definitely changed a lot in the last two years.’ The mother-of-three says that while she never suffered from depression, she did feel lost for months before the robbery as a result of constantly linking her self-worth to her net worth. It shook me,’ she explained. ‘There was a lot of me that measured who I was by how much I had. I thought, “Oh, I’m worth so much”. That needed to change in me.’ Got a story?
