Dave doesn’t agree with Kanye’s politics (Picture: Getty) Dave Chappelle has suggested that Kanye West was having a ‘manic episode’ while meeting with President Donald Trump at the Oval Office. Kanye had a meeting with the POTUS last week, during which he pitched a new Air Force One called iPlane 1, discussed his apparently false bipolar disorder diagnosis, and claimed wearing a Make America Great Again hat made him feel like a superhero. And the rapper’s friend Dave Chappelle has some thoughts about the whole bizarre scenario. The comedian was performing alongside Jon Stewart at Dublin’s 3Arena, with the stars joined by Michelle Wolf for their Ask A Comedian section. A fan shouted out: ‘What do you think of Kanye?’ – and Dave went on to half-defend, half-slam the I Love It rapper. Dave thinks Kanye was having a manic episode (Picture: Oliver Contreras – Pool/Getty Images) According to TooFab, Dave said: ‘I gotta state my bias: I fuck with Kanye, he’s like literally a friend of mine. I had a lot of thoughts and feelings, and as you can imagine I got asked a lot about what happened in the Oval Office. ‘When Kanye put that Make America Great Again hat on, he was like, “This is like my cape”, and I was saying to myself, “N****, just wear a cape!”‘ The 45-year-old continued: ‘Honestly, all jokes aside, I felt like my friend is bipolar, and I felt like he was having a manic episode on television. And I was initially angry that they paraded him in front of those cameras. Kanye thinks and says things as fast as he thinks them, without refining them before he says them.’ Chappelle then went on to compare Kanye to Jack Johnson, the first black world heavyweight boxing champion who would only fight white boxers for the first five years of his reign. He’s a rich person that happens to be black, and he wants the rights of every rich person. He’s completely analogous and this has happened before. This motherfucker is Jack Johnson.’ After explaining the story of Johnson, Dave concluded: ‘I don’t think [Kanye] forgot us. I trust him as a person of intent, I just think that this n***** is betting on the wrong horse. ‘Lucky for me, I know him well enough to not take political advice from him. I’m keeping my Yeezys and I’m still buying the records, but when he’s on CNN, n*****, I’m turning the channel.’ Chappelle spoke about Kanye last week in an interview with CNN, when he doubled down on his disapproval of the star’s support of Trump. He said: ‘I’m not mad at Kanye. That’s my brother – I love him, I support him. But, you know, I don’t have to agree with everything that he says… I just trust him as a person of intent. But yeah, he shouldn’t say all that shit.’ Got a story?
