The outgoing US President — who has made a series of unfounded claims on social media about last week’s election being ‘rigged’ — accused Pfizer Inc. of not having ‘the courage’ to release preliminary data on its jab before the vote. It comes after the pharmaceutical giant raised hopes of a return to normal life by the spring, after finding that its vaccine had ’90% effectiveness’ in early human trials. Mr Trump tweeted: ‘As I have long said, Pfizer and the others would only announce a Vaccine after the Election, because they didn’t have the courage to do it before. Likewise, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) should have announced it earlier, not for political purposes, but for saving lives!’ He added: ‘If Joe Biden were President, you wouldn’t have the Vaccine for another four years, nor would the FDA have ever approved it so quickly.
