Trump calls Sacha Baron Cohen ‘unfunny creep’ ahead of new Borat film Donald Trump has called Sacha Baron Cohen an ‘unfunny creep’ after the comedian’s latest Borat film embarrassed his administration. The President lashed out at the British star after promo footage for ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’ showed actress Mara Bakalova apparently managing to get onto the grounds of the White House. Tweets from the Borat official account said the actress – who plays the character’s daughter – gained access ‘without a proper security check or Covid-19 test.’ It comes after a separate scene from the film was released showing Mr Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, in a hotel room with the 24-year-old. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Mr Trump said: ‘I don’t find him [Cohen] funny. To me, he’s a creep.’ The president had his own brush with the prankster in 2003 – when he was then posing as his other alter-ego wannabe gangster Ali G. Mr Trump said: ‘Years ago, you know, he tried to scam me. And I was the only one who said, “No way. That’s a phony guy.” I don’t know anything about him other than he tried to scam me.’ Trump very careful who he let into his events and house. It showed Ms Bakalova was able to make it to within steps of the Oval Office, raising further concerns about the virus protocol in the run-up to when the president himself got infected. She was interviewing Chanel Rion, a correspondent for the controversial OAN network which Borat mocks as being the ‘most rigorous news source in America.’ It was one of three occasions during the making of the film that the Borat cast managed to gain access to Trump’s inner circle. The White House interview came just days before the Rose Garden unveiling of supreme court justice nominee Amy Coney, after which several guests came down with coronavirus. Actress Mara Bakalova plays Borat’s 15-year-old daughter (Picture: Twitter/Borat) The film has come out on the back of a huge PR drive including this stunt on the River Thames (Picture: Getty Images) Ms Bakalova, whose character in the film is supposedly 15-years-old, also managed to join a Trump reception for supporters in Phoenix and a conservative conference, both in February. Earlier this week footage emerged showing the actress and Mr Giuliani, 76, in a seemingly compromising situation, with his hands down his trousers in the bedroom. On Wednesday, the former New York mayor issued an angry denial over the fake interview, saying it was a ‘complete fabrication.’ ‘I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate,’ he tweeted. ‘If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise, he is a stone-cold liar.’ But the comedian continued to poke fun at Mr Giuliani. In a video posted on social media, Borat himself leapt to his defence and accused the ‘fake news media’ – a term often used by Trump and his supporters – of turning an ‘innocent’ encounter into ‘something disgusting.’ Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@metro.co.uk.
