Trump calls Sacha Baron Cohen ‘unfunny creep’ ahead of new Borat film Borat 2 star Sacha Baron Cohen has thanked Donald Trump for the ‘free publicity’ after the president continued to slate the comedian’s latest film. Baron Cohen’s Borat sequel landed on Amazon Prime Video on Friday and takes aim at Trump, as well as Vice-President Mike Pence and, sensationally, Trump’s lawyer Rudy Guiliani. While Guiliani has shared his own comments about the film, titled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, denying footage of him in a hotel room was salacious, Trump went on to make his own feelings on the film and Baron Cohen clear. But in the process, he’s evidently only directed more eyeballs to the movie, with Baron Cohen going on to thank the leader for such rousing promotion. Sharing a news article about Trump’s description of Baron Cohen as essentially an ‘unfunny creep’, the British actor wrote on Twitter over the weekend: ‘Donald—I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! ‘I admit, I don’t find you funny either. But yet the whole world laughs at you.’ Donald—I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! I admit, I don’t find you funny either. But yet the whole world laughs at you. I’m always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you’ll need a job after Jan. 20. Let’s talk!https://t.co/itWnhJ8TQF — Sacha Baron Cohen (@SachaBaronCohen) October 24, 2020 He went on: ‘I’m always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you’ll need a job after Jan. 20. Let’s talk!’ Trump had previously lashed out at 49-year-old Baron Cohen after promo footage for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm showed actress Maria Bakalova (who played Borat’s 15-year-old daughter Tutar) apparently managing to get onto the grounds of the White House. Tweets from the Borat official account said the 24-year-old actress gained access ‘without a proper security check or Covid-19 test.’ {“@context”:“https:\/\/schema.org”,“@type”:“VideoObject”,“name”:“Metro.co.uk”,“duration”:“T2M59S”,“thumbnailUrl”:“https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2020\/10\/02\/08\/33893642-0-image-a-19_1601623126461.jpg”,“uploadDate”:“2020-10-02T08:17:44+0100”,“description”:“To be more specific, this is the Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Chenqui!\n\nIt involves Sacha Baron Cohen impersonating President Donald Trump, and carrying a woman over his shoulder…\n\nComing to Prime Video October 23rd.”,“contentUrl”:“https:\/\/videos.metro.co.uk\/video\/met\/2020\/10\/02\/3713834892822857951\/480x270_MP4_3713834892822857951.mp4”,“height”:270,“width”:480} To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video It comes after a separate scene from the film was released showing Giuliani, in a hotel room with the actress. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump, 74, said: ‘I don’t find him funny. To me, he’s a creep.’ The president, who had his own brush with the prankster in 2003 – when he was then posing as his other alter-ego Ali G, went on: ‘Years ago, you know, he tried to scam me. And I was the only one who said, “No way. That’s a phony guy.” I don’t know anything about him other than he tried to scam me.’ Whether or not Trump finds Baron Cohen funny doesn’t seem to be up for debate, as reviews of the film from both critics and fans alike are largely positive, with many calling for Bakalova to receive awards season nods for her fearless portrayal of Tutar. Bakalove has been praised for her turn in the film (Picture: Amazon Prime / BACKGRID) The actress has certainly done enough to warrant some serious recognition after she managed to get 76-year-old statesman Giuliani into a hotel room after an interview about coronavirus, where he was secretly filmed reclining on a bed before Baron Cohen entered as Borat to yell at him: ‘She’s 15. She’s too old for you.’ She was also seen shaking hands with Donald Trump Jr and standing within feet of President Donald Trump during clips that were not shown in the film after managing to make her way into the White House. While the first film saw Borat being the one to push the boundaries, viewers thought Maria was even more fearless than him in the second instalment, hailing it Oscar-worthy.
