Chuck Schumer was on the Rachel Maddow show last night, and here’s what he said about Republican plans today to push through a Senate judiciary committee vote on nominating Amy Coney Barrett to the US supreme court. He accused his Republican counterparts of “defiling” the Senate and described the process as “despicable”, saying that they are trying to rush through the nomination because “they don’t want the American people to know what Amy Coney Barrett stands for”. The rules of the committee require two Democrats to be there to move a nominee out, and we do not want to provide the quorum. We do not want to participate. This process is the most rushed, the most illegitimate, the most hypocritical process of any Supreme Court nominee we have ever, ever seen. The Republicans just at will try to break the rules. They are so hell bent on rushing this nominee through.
