Covington beat Woodley on Saturday night in Las Vegas (Picture: Getty) A visibly exited Colby Covington halted an interview to take a call from a ‘proud’ Donald Trump after his UFC win over Tyron Woodley. The welterweight dominated the former champion over five rounds and forced Woodley to call for an injury TKO in the final minutes of the fight. Woodley yelled out he had hurt his ribs and referee Dan Miragliotta waved off the contest as a result. A bitter build-up to the fight was dominated by Covington’s pro-Trump persona up against Woodley’s desire to continue to bring attention to Black Lives Matter. Covington visited Trump at the White House before his fight and UFC president Dana White has recently spoken at the American president’s rallies. ‘Choas’ was being interview after his win when someone handed him his phone to show him Trump was calling him. ‘Oh, the Potus is calling me!’ Colby said. I’m proud of you,’ Trump said. ‘I just made a big speech, I had 35,000 people, I said I want to get home now to watch Colby. That was fast work. Covington already has a loss on his record to Usman while Masvidal is currently in talks to rematch Nate Diaz in his next fight. It is likely Covington will be made wait for his shot at revenge as Usman is already pencilled in to fight Gilbert Burns in his next title defence.
