Sun Trump — The Art of War… On OregonThis Weak in Politics, Vol. 243 July 23, 2020 Lyndon Johnson had his war on Poverty. Richard Nixon had the war on drugs. Following their lead, Donald Trump is opening a war of his own … the War on …the Beaver State? Indeed, that is not a typo. Russia is paying bounties for U.S. soldiers, coronavirus cases are spiraling out of control, 1.4 million new first-time jobless claims were filed last week — and at least 30 million Americans are collecting unemployment benefits … and President Trump has leapt into action, sending heavily armed troops in minivans to Oregon. For those of you who have not been following the news out of Oregon, it is actually pretty bleak. Something terrible has been going on in Portland for quite some time, and it is crushing. Powell’s Books has been closed since March! That, of course, is not the reason Trump is upset. The man has seen the inside of a bookstore about as often as he’s seen his penis in the shower. Or about as often as we’ve seen his taxes. Truth is, Trump is angry at Portland for Black Lives Mattering, and for electing Democrats. Another reason Trump is angry with our mortal enemy, Oregon, is that the state has for two decades voted by an all-mail voting system, which the president despises. Now, if it were an all-male voting system, Trump and his re-election would be fine, what with male voters, particularly us white ones, being what is technically known as “idiots.” One white male who is definitely not an idiot, at least according to himself, is Donald Trump. The president spent an inordinate amount of time this week bragging about passing a test meant to determine the degree to which one is suffering cognitive decline. While such assessments are usually private matters between doctors, patients, and patients’ families, Trump’s bragging about his “unbelievable score” has brought the spotlight to the test. In case you missed it, here’s a recap. Trump was asked five questions: Name one thing you’ve always wished you were; Name one thing Mike Pence (sp?) has always wished he was; Name one thing Melania wishes she had in the White House; Aside from a mirror, what is your favorite thing? What do you spend the majority of your time doing in the White House? And here are his answers: https://ift.tt/3fVvWl5 As you can see from watching the video, Trump only seemed struggle two or three times during the 12 second clip. Which seems impressive until you see who was standing behind the camera during the interview. All this talk about taking tests segues nicely to another hot topic of the week — returning to school. The Trump administration wants to get kids back into schools, in person, in full classrooms as soon as possible, China Virus hoax be damned. As we noted last week, they don’t want all that pesky science playing a role in determining when our kids should return to school. Standing in sharp contrast to the administration on the school safety issue is a group called… humans. More specifically, parents, teachers, school administrators, career Department of Education officials, teachers’ unions, cafeteria workers, custodians, bus-drivers, crossing guards, coaches, grandparents, etc. We even suspect George W. Bush is currently asking the question, “is our children safe?” As for President Trump, who on earth could you possibly trust more on the topic of childhood safety than the man who this week wished the best for Ghislaine Maxwell? In fairness, he does seem to have met with her OFTEN, very likely to discuss the safety of children. That was probably uncalled for. Even though Donald Trump has spent a lot of time with an accused child sex-trafficker doesn’t mean that we should point out that Donald Trump has spent a lot of time with an accused child sex-trafficker. If a lot of people point out that Donald Trump has spent a lot of time with an accused child sex-trafficker, people are going to think something suspicious might have gone on, what with Donald Trump having spent a lot of time with an accused child sex-trafficker. Finally, in other news, Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL — because where else?) this week called Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a “fucking bitch,” on the floor of the House of Representatives (assholes deserve representation, too). When called out on it, this class act of a man issued a very sincere non-apology: “I cannot apologize for my passion, or for loving my God, my family, and my country!” Ah, yes. Nothing says “God-loving, passionate, patriotic family man” quite like calling a 30 year old woman a “fucking bitch” on the floor of the House of Representatives. And that’s the way the weak spent the week in a nation where a Trump-supporting congressman is calling a colleague “a fucking bitch,” and our president himself has spent a lot of time with an accused child sex-trafficker. He wishes her well, frankly. The child-sex trafficker, not the accosted Congresswoman. If you enjoy reading TWITPOL please seek help.
