Trump’s handling of the pandemic is coming under increasing pressure as many states mark a record number of new coronavirus cases. In Texas alone, 7,890 patients were hospitalized after 238 new admissions over the past 24 hours. A fireworks display lit up the skies in Washington DC after the president’s speech, despite the city’s mayor Muriel Bowser warning that the mass spectator event would defy health officials’ guidance during the pandemic.
