Donald Trump faces a fresh coronavirus scare after his son Don Jr’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, right, tested positive for Covid-19 (Pictures: AFP/AP) Donald Trump faces a fresh coronavirus scare after his son Don Jr’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle tested positive for the disease. Guilfoyle – who is leading fundraising efforts for President Trump’s reelection campaign – was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Friday shortly before a July 4 event at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Guilfoyle, 51, flew to the site with Don Jr, 42, ahead of a huge fireworks display which also saw President Trump, 74, make a fiery speech. She did not travel with the president himself, and did not meet with President Trump before testing positive. The New York Times reported that Guilfoyle was not experiencing symptoms. She and Don Jr have now gone into self-isolation as a precaution, although Don Jr’s test came back negative. They plan to drive back from South Dakota to the east coast in a bid to avoid passing Covid-19 onto anyone else. Trump Victory Finance Committee chief of staff Sergio Gor told the Times: ‘She’s doing well, and will be retested to ensure the diagnosis is correct since she’s asymptomatic, but as a precaution will cancel all upcoming events.’ Despite Guilfoyle’s positive test, President Trump went ahead with the crowded Mount Rushmore event, which saw 7,500 people crowd close together without being made to wear the coverings. He is tested for coronavirus every day, as is anyone who comes into close contact with him. Trump has continued to downplay the seriousness of the outbreak, despite the US experiencing its highest day of coronavirus diagnoses on Friday, with over 55,000 people testing positive. The US has seen almost 2.8million coronavirus diagnoses, and is edging towards 130,000 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Friday night’s event saw Trump brand those who don’t support him ‘bad, evil’ people.
