Hillary’s emails have been a source of contention since 2016 (Picture: Sky) Cast your mind back to 2016, and you might remember that many were anticipating the United States would have its first female president in Hillary Clinton. That wasn’t to pass, and the last four years has seen the results of Donald Trump winning the election, with his devout MAGA followers quick to point out the economic wins while others have been left alarmed at incidents like claiming a 75-year old man shoved to the ground was faking it. The former First Lady’s political career and rise to presidential candidate will be explored in detail in a four-part docuseries launching on Sky and NOW TV tonight at 9pm. One possible factor that some analysts believe hindered Clinton’s chances included the furore over her using private emails. What is the latest on the email scandal, and will Hillary have to appear in court? Will Hillary Clinton testify in court? Early last week, CNBC reported that a judge has ordered Hillary Clinton must testify at a deposition for a lawsuit related to her use of a private email server for official business while working as secretary of State under President Obama between 2009 and 2013. ‘It is time to hear directly from Secretary Clinton,’ Judge Royce Lamberth declared in his order issued in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., where the Conservative group Judicial Watch are suing the State Department over its handling of searches for the now-notorious emails. {“@context”:“https:\/\/schema.org”,“@type”:“VideoObject”,“name”:“Metro.co.uk”,“duration”:“T30S”,“thumbnailUrl”:“https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2020\/06\/01\/12\/29073864-0-image-a-1_1591012502738.jpg”,“uploadDate”:“2020-06-01T12:54:56+0100”,“description”:“Hillary documentary trailer from Sky Documentaries.”,“contentUrl”:“https:\/\/videos.metro.co.uk\/video\/met\/2020\/06\/01\/8263784397054756603\/640x360_MP4_8263784397054756603.mp4”,“height”:360,“width”:640} To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video ‘As extensive as the existing record is, it does not sufficiently explain Secretary Clinton’s state of mind when she decided it would be an acceptable practice to set up and use a private server to conduct State Department business’ the judge added. The problem with her using a private server was tied into the supposed secrecy involved with it, as well as the concern about sending classified information. In July 2016, while Clinton was running for president, then-FBI Director James Comey announced that he was not recommending that any criminal charges be filed against Clinton, though he called her actions ‘careless.’ {“@context”:“https:\/\/schema.org”,“@type”:“VideoObject”,“name”:“Metro.co.uk”,“duration”:“T1M41S”,“thumbnailUrl”:“https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2020\/06\/02\/07\/29110920-0-image-a-7_1591077662921.jpg”,“uploadDate”:“2020-06-02T07:01:36+0100”,“description”:“Trump walks to St John’s Church in Washington DC, where he holds up a bible for a photo opportunity. No charges have ever been filed against Clinton. She is set to appear in court on 9 September 2020. Hillary airs on Sky Documentaries and NOW TV on Thursday 11th June.
