On Friday (12 June), the Trump administration finalised a rule that will remove nondiscrimination protections for LGBT people regarding healthcare and health insurance. The President’s decision came on the fourth anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting, where 49 people were killed and 53 others were wounded, as well as in the middle of Pride month. The rule is set to come into effect in mid-August. Celebrities have been condemning the decision, sending support to the LGBT community, particularly transgender people who will be affected by the rule. Ariana shared a screenshot of a headline about the reversal, writing over it: ‘Disgusting.’ Sharing the same screenshot again, she wrote: ‘F**king disgusting,’ before adding a broken heart emoji. Ariana branded the decision ‘disgusting’ (Picture: arianagrande/Instagram) Princess Diaries star Anne Hathaway shared an image on Instagram that reads: ‘Trans rights are human rights. ‘Black trans lives matter. Use your vote.’ She added in the caption: ‘TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS. https://ift.tt/3e0m9Jt ‘In the middle of a pandemic, in the middle of Pride Month, on the fourth anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, on the week Riah Milton and Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells – two Black Trans Women – were murdered, Donald Trump erased Transgender civil rights protections in healthcare. ‘No. I am as angry as I have ever been. Vote him – and all the heartless cowards that support him – out. ‘To my Trans brothers and sisters: I am so sorry. I am so, so sorry. I love you, I stand with you, I will fight this alongside you. #VOTE.’ Actress Alyssa Milano fumed: ‘May God please help us all. However, a statement released by the US Department of Health and Human Services explains: ‘Under the final rule, HHS eliminates certain provisions of the 2016 Rule that exceeded the scope of the authority delegated by Congress in Section 1557.
