The disturbing footage shows the blue Jeep ploughing into the protester (Picture: Twitter/@kookgenre) Shocking footage has emerged of Donald Trump supporters running over two protesters who had taken to the streets calling for justice over the death of George Floyd. The footage, which was shared on Twitter, appears to show three people driving through the protests in a blue Jeep with a US flag and a Trump ‘Keep America Great’ flag attached to the rear of the vehicle. Several protesters are seen holding placards in the road, before the driver of the Jeep comes to a stop in traffic. He then accelerates and ploughs into a young woman, who appears to be struck front-on by the vehicle and is mowed to the ground. Protesters, who had been chanting ‘f*** Donald Trump’, suddenly start screaming as the drivers speed ahead appearing to leave the young woman lying in the middle of the road. It is understood another woman was hit a few steps ahead, though this is not seen in the footage. {“@context”:“https:\/\/schema.org”,“@type”:“VideoObject”,“name”:“Metro.co.uk”,“duration”:“T12S”,“thumbnailUrl”:“https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2020\/05\/31\/08\/29032798-0-image-a-4_1590910727040.jpg”,“uploadDate”:“2020-05-31T08:38:20+0100”,“description”:“‘Trump supporters’ run over protester`”,“contentUrl”:“https:\/\/videos.metro.co.uk\/video\/met\/2020\/05\/31\/4537686247254047693\/480x270_MP4_4537686247254047693.mp4”,“height”:270,“width”:480} To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video According to reports, the incident is understood to have happened on Saturday near Mooney Boulevard and Caldwell Avenue in Visalia, California, at about 3pm local time. The second woman understood to have been hit, Karina Ramirez, said she saw the first protester get hit by the Jeep before she was struck in the leg and has been left with bruises, according to abc30. Ms Ramirez said the incident began when the Jeep pulled up to the protesters shouting profanities, before the crowd started chanting back at them. The Visalia Police Department Traffic Unit said it is investigating the incident but no arrests have yet been made. It has not released the names of the suspects. Public information officer for the department, Celeste Sanchez, added that none of the people in the Jeep are the children of Visalia police officers, as claimed on social media. The force tweeted: ‘The two adult females who were involved both received minor injuries. ‘A petition is not necessary and the incident is being investigated by the Visalia Police Department Traffic Unit. ‘We are aware of information indicating that one of the occupants is the son of a Visalia police officer. ‘This is incorrect information. Brandon McCormick got out of his car yelling ‘all lives matter’ aiming the weapon at a black man, a protester said, before the crowd took him down. A Twitter user who shared the video said: ‘He was yelling and me, and then aimed his bow at a black man standing behind me. The black man saw it coming, charged, and tackled him.’ Protests have continued to grow across the US demanding justice over the death of Mr Floyd who died on Monday after a Minneapolis police officer restrained him on the floor, holding a knee to his neck until he stopped breathing. The unarmed black security guard was filmed repeatedly saying ‘I can’t breathe’ as former Minneapolis Police Department officer Derek Chauvin continued to restrain him on the floor. Demonstrations in Minneapolis have since spread to other US cities including New York, Detroit, Los Angeles, Dallas, Austin and Portland, as protesters call for change after years of black people being killed or beaten at the hands of police officers. Police vehicles were set ablaze, protesters were shot with tear gas and rubber bullets and injuries mounted, as the country convulsed through another night of unrest after months of coronavirus lockdowns.
