May 12, 2020 (WASHINGTON) President Donald J. Trump today set out to assure the nation that he is doing everything within his power to prevent the spread of coronavirus prevention. “While lots of places have had it, many, many places… more than people know, haven’t had it. I alone can fix this,” he said. The president congratulated red states, or “the good ones,” as he likes to call them, for “not being pussies.” He also took the opportunity to again tout his own expertise in science as an explanation for his handling of the crisis. “As most of you know, even though the fake news won’t report it… horrible people. They’ve never been fair to me. We have prevailed over the invisible enemy that I like to call coronavirus. Coronavirus. A horrible thing that happened to our country, but I defeated it. Some said it couldn’t be done… but I was able to find defeat and earn it.” The bulk of the news coverage today focused on Dr. Anthony Fauci who testified remotely before the Senate’s Health Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. For weeks there have been rumors that Fauci and Trump did not necessarily see eye to eye — a point Trump hit on today as well. “Of course we don’t see eye to eye on everything. First, he is not a very tall man. Not tall at all. Sad. He’s even shorter than Dr. Birx, and she’s a lady doctor. I like him anyway. But he was one of the ones who was wrong about banning travel from China. It wasn’t his fault, really. Everybody was wrong except for me. Nobody knew how much I knew about this stuff back then. Besides, he doesn’t understand the economy. I can’t just look at one thing, I have to look at everything. I have to know a lot of things. A lot of things, that I can tell you. So many things that you wouldn’t even believe it. And if there is one thing I know it is the economy and science. And I know a lot about science. One thing my uncle, the great super-genius taught me was that science can be very tricky. Dr. Fauci is an immunologist, and I gotta tell you, immunologism isn’t an exact science. And even if it was, science can be wrong. For hundreds of years, probably more, maybe not, but probably hundreds, astrologers thought the earth revolved around the sun.
