Sure, 2020, why not (Picture: Rex) There’s no escaping it – 2020 is a total shambles, where nothing makes sense and everything seems like a plotline from a bad movie. So Axl Rose feuding with the US Treasury Secretary was bound to happen, if you think about it. Yes, the frontman of Guns N’ Roses called out Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Twitter, and Axl came out looking better than the man who oversees the fiscal wellbeing of the United States. It’s unclear why Axl was so angry with Mnuchin, but the 58-year-old made his opinions on him very clear as he branded him an ‘a****le’ on Twitter. The Sweet Child O’ Mine singer wrote: ‘It’s official! Whatever anyone may have previously thought of Steve Mnuchin he’s officially an a****le.’ Mnuchin, 59, came across the tweet, and fired back: ‘What have you done for the country lately?’ Unfortunately for Mnuchin, he originally included the flag for Liberia, rather than the US flag, which kind of extinguished any flame on that sick burn. He soon corrected the flag error, but fans of Axl filed in to question what Mnuchin had done for his country. YouTuber Casey Rains tweeted: ‘Axl Rose is a worldwide icon who can sell out a stadium at the drop of a hat and has written several of the most iconic rock songs of all time. ‘And you suggested that people travel during a pandemic. When the US death toll is the highest in the world. Smart.’ Axl didn’t back down (Picture: Paul Kane/Getty Images) While Brian Tyler Cohen tweeted: ‘Um. Not delay relief checks to desperate Americans so that the president could write his name in the memo line?’ And Axl wasn’t done yet, as the rocker replied, mocking Mnuchin’s flag mix-up: ‘My bad I didn’t get we’re hoping 2 emulate Liberia’s economic model but on the real unlike this admin I’m not responsible for 70k+ deaths n’ unlike u I don’t hold a fed gov position of responsibility 2 the American people n’ go on TV tellin them 2 travel the US during a pandemic.’ Yeah, we reckon Axl wins this round. If you needed further details to make the exchange even more bizarre, Mnuchin is not only part of Trump’s cabinet, but is also a movie producer who executive produced The Lego Movie and its sequels, Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman. Axl hasn’t been super active on Twitter over the past few years, but in recent weeks, all of his tweets have been political – with a post on 2 May reading: ‘Q: If the Sheriffs can choose not to enforce the beach closures can the hospitals “choose” not to admit any possible Covid-19 suspected beach goers? Just askin’…’ In between his online debates, Axl, along with the rest of Guns N’ Roses, has been busy working on a children’s book. Sweet Child O’ Mine, created by the band in collaboration with novelist James Patterson, is an illustrated book inspired by the classic tune of the same name, and follows the adventures of Maya and Natalia Rose – the niece and daughter of Guns N’ Roses manager Fernando Lebeis, who have grown up touring with the band. What a cool childhood.
