Brad Pitt turned into Dr Anthony Fauci in order to debunk Donald Trump’s latest coronavirus comments in a skit for SNL. The weekly satire show hosted its second ‘at home’ episode this weekend as they’re currently unable to perform in front of their traditional live studio audience thanks to the pandemic outbreak. Sitting in his office, the actor made a cameo appearance for the long-running series’ political cold-open, starting with the White House task force doctor thanking fans for their ‘supportive, inspiring and sometimes graphic emails’. He then said that the President had been taking some ‘liberties’ with their guidelines, addressing Trump’s claims that they could find a ‘disinfectant to inject into humans’, and shooting down the phrase they’ll get vaccines “relatively soon”. ‘Relative to the entire history of Earth? Sure! The vaccine is going to come real soon,’ Brad joked as Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. ‘But if you were to tell a friend you’ll be over relatively soon, and then turn up a year-and-a-half later, your friend may be relatively p***ed off.’ Brad appeared as Doctor Fauci in the newest episode of SNL At Home (Picture: Backgrid) Trying to clarify a couple of other messages, the new fake Fauci adds that Trump meant “almost noone” will be able to get tested for the virus when he said “everyone”, and that the “miracle” of the virus disappearing was an overstatement. ‘A miracle is great. Who doesn’t like miracles?’ Pitt said, before adding, ‘Miracles shouldn’t be Plan A.’ Adding fuel to the fire of rumours that Fauci’s about to get fired by Trump from the White House task force, Brad then took a shot at Trump’s suggestion from a press conference this week that ‘injecting people with disinfectant’ could be the cure to coronavirus. Donald Trump was slammed for his ‘liberties’ with the advice he was given by the team (Picture: Getty) Dr Fauci has been giving out advice and working as part of the White house team (Picture: AFP) ‘So yeah, I’m getting fired. But until then, I’m going to be there, putting out the facts for whoever is listening,’ the character declared. ‘When I hear things like, “The virus can be cured if everyone takes the Tide Pod challenge”,’ he added. ‘I’ll be there to say, “Please don’t.”’ Ending his segment, Brad dropped his newfound persona to address Dr Fauci directly, and said: ‘To the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time.’ Brad then removed the wig to thank Fauci for his work during the coronavirus outbreak (Picture: Backgrid) ‘And thank you to the medical workers, first responders and their families for being on the front line,’ he added.
