This Weak in Politics, Vol. 224 March 12, 2020 “It’s going to get worse.” With those five simple words, Dr. Anthony Fauci was more honest and gave more useful information than any other person in the Trump administration. Especially more than the president. And now, we will get on with this abbreviated issue which is dedicated entirely to novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19. Unless you’ve been under a rock, or in quarantine with Doug Collins, you are probably familiar with the news surrounding the deadly virus — a virus that a top Trump administration official declared contained on February 25th. Interestingly, the day after the US “contained” the disease, the nation experienced its first case of local transmission. Three days after the virus was “contained,” the US saw the first death from the virus on its shores. And now, 16 days after we “contained” the virus that the rest of the world has labeled a pandemic, the US has over 1,200 cases and 28 people have died. Heck of a job, Clownie. Those are sobering numbers for what the president initially called, and some of his supporters to continue to believe is “a hoax.” But you won’t hear the president’s chief of staff, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Lindsey Graham, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, the junior Senator from Texas, or the ranking member of the House Douchenozzle committee, Matt Gaetz, weighing in on the coronavirus “hoax” as they are all currently in quarantine. That’s right, Matt Gaetz is in quarantine, though he has tested negative. When Tom Hanks reported that he tested positive it was remarked that now we all have someone we love who tested positive. And now with the Gaetz news we have someone we hate who tested negative. Louie Gohmert being Louie Gohmert has been exposed to a person carrying the virus but has refused to self quarantine because freedom. So, the virus is striking not just everyday Americans, but also Hollywood elites and Washington effites. Before you panic, however, our fellow Americans, keep this in mind. There are ways to stop the alarming spread and avoid ongoing devastation as a nation. All it requires are some simple assets: A stable leader who is capable of delegating to scientific experts rather than political allies; Honesty from leaders; Clear and consistent guidance from our government; Holy shit we are going to stop here as we are completely freaking ourselves out. While we may not all agree with his handling/bumbling of the crisis, even his most ardent detractors have to admit that Trump looks pretty comfortable at the helm. Truth is, we should have no fear, Trump is not actually in charge. Vice President Mike Pence (sp?) is! And it is in his honor that we post this world premiere of a song inspired by the Veep himself. As an added bonus, it is soud advice we should all heed. Enjoy! Warning: We are quite certain this song is an earworm. https://ift.tt/39MQicR As you saw in the video above, there are some simple steps we can take to avoid contracting the coronavirus: Wash hands regularly while singing some sort of song (this is a thing, apparently). Avoid shaking hands Avoid cruise ships, conservative conferences, Mar-a-Lago, and Air Force One. Avoid large crowds of people Avoid small crowds of people Avoid people As for the crowd avoidance, the NCAA led the exodus by announcing the March tournament games would have no fans. We hate to break it to them, but the Washington Redskins have been playing games in a stadium with no fans for over a decade, and yet there was still a coronavirus outbreak in DC. If the NCAA really want to ensure empty venues, they should allow Dan Snyder to take ownership. Since that last paragraph was written, the NCAA has cancelled the entire March Madness Tournament, and the NBA, NHL, MLS, MLR, and NASCAR have all suspended their seasons. Call it a hunch, but we think some of these events are soon to be cancelled as well: The Traveling Blarney Stone 2020 World Tour. The City of Seattle’s First Annual Watermelon Seed Spitting AND Catching Competition. And one of our favorites, local Kindergartener/Nursing Home Residents’ Ball House. And that’s the way the weak spent the week in a nation where we once put a man on the moon, yet we are currently struggling to figure out some sort of way of knowing when 20 seconds are up so we can stop washing our hands. ON A SERIOUS NOTE: The coronavirus is deadly serious. And in all candor, factual information is not coming from the top in the United States.
