Caitlyn Jenner publicly withdrew her support for President Donald Trump last year (Picture: ITV / Getty) Caitlyn Jenner won’t be weighing in on the upcoming US presidential election after stating that she is done talking about politics. The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here star was previously a supporter of the Republican Party and visited the White House shortly after coming out as transgender in 2015. With the presidential election coming up this year, it’s a given that celebrities will come out in force to publicly endorse their chosen political party. But Caitlyn, 70, will not be throwing her hat into the ring in the coming months. Sharing her current stance on all things White House-related, the reality TV star told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I don’t talk politics anymore. I tried the first couple of years [after my transition]. ‘I went back to Washington to make some changes and, to be honest, I just got fed up. I don’t even want to get involved anymore.’ She’ll be keeping schtum on politics going forward (Picture: Rex Features) Caitlyn’s revelation comes just months after she withdrew her support for President Donald Trump over his attitude towards the transgender community. In a column for The Washington Post, Caitlyn wrote in October: ‘Following Trump’s election as president, I saw fertile ground for change within the Republican Party on LGBTQ issues. ‘I believed I could work within the party and the Trump administration to shift the minds of those who most needed shifting.’ She admits, however, that ‘sadly, I was wrong’. ‘The reality is that the trans community is being relentlessly attacked by this president,’ she continued. He has ignored our humanity. He has insulted our dignity.’ She added of Trump and the Republican Party: ‘My hope in him — in them — was misplaced, and I cannot support anyone who is working against our community. ‘I do not support Trump. I must learn from my mistakes and move forward.’ Caitlyn’s self-imposed ban on talking politics might have to change in the future if her son-in-law Kanye West goes ahead with his plans to run for presidency in 2024.
