The Friends star thinks his new role is like Donald Trump (Getty – Rex) Friends star David Schwimmer has compared his role in new British comedy Intelligence to President Donald Trump. David will play NSA agent Jerry (David) who is struggling to get to grips with life in the UK as he joins the GCHQ team, putting his foot in his mouth several times along the way. From ripping off Wikipedia for legit police briefings to joking that he was expecting his boss to be a man, it clearly might take him some time to settle down in the office. In a bid to make his presence known, he teams up with tactless computer analysist Joseph (Nick Mohammed) – which ends up disrupting the cyber-terrorism gang even more. ‘His character Jerry is loud and brash, and a lot of what comes out of his mouth could’ve been taken straight from a Donald Trump press conference. Would that be fair to say?’ he began. ‘It’s really fun for me to play because it’s quite cathartic. It’s taking all the stuff that’s upsetting or angering me in the current climate – at least in my country, if not both of ours – and putting it into human form.’ The Friends star thinks it’s going to be the best comedy in two centuries (Picture: Sky One) David and Nick are comedy gold together. (Picture: Sky One) ‘While we are never explicit about what political party Jerry belongs to, his arrogance combined with his ignorance and his misogyny, homophobia, racism, and aggression is reminiscent of… [He trails off.] You know, it’s reminiscent of a lot of our politicians at this time,’ the Friends star told The Radio Times. Not afraid of bigging the whole thing up too much, David teased that it is the best comedy made in the last two centuries. ‘I think you’ll find this is the best TV comedy made in the last two hundred years,’ he said in a statement. While Nick agreed: ‘Given that David is most well-known for his dramatic roles, it’s nice to see him finally have a go at comedy. ‘Hopefully, it’ll lead to more work of this quality.’ ‘He’s collaborative, honest and exquisitely funny and I couldn’t be more delighted and flattered by his involvement,’ he continued.
