Will we see a Trump and Fury get together? (Picture: Getty/PA ) There could be a serious meeting of minds in the near future as Donald Trump plans to invite Tyson Fury to the White House after his superb victory over Deontay Wilder on Saturday night. The Gypsy King stopped Wilder in the seventh round of their WBC heavyweight title fight in Las Vegas to hand the Bronze Bomber the first defeat of his 44-fight career. Their first meeting, in December 2018, had ended in a draw, but this was an entirely one-sided scrap, with the American providing no answers to the problems Fury posed. It was a stunning performance from the Brit and good enough to catch the eye of the US president, who watched the fight and was suitably impressed. Trump was so enamoured with the scrap, in which Fury knocked Wilder down twice, that both men are going to get an invite to come and see him at the White House. ‘That was a great fight, two great fighters. It was really very exciting,’ Trump told reporters on the White House lawn on Sunday. ‘Maybe we have to bring them both to the White House, I don’t know, because that was really a good one. ‘I think we’ll do that.’ Tyson Fury comfortably beat Deontay Wilder at the MGM Grand (Picture: REUTERS) Trump has long been a boxing fan and has history of celebrating combat sports achievements with an invite to the White House. UFC welterweight Colby Covington celebrated winning an interim world title with a visit to see President Trump in August 2018 as the Commander in Chief posed with the belt. Like @POTUS @realDonaldTrump always says: Promises made. Promises kept. Pleasure to finally meet you Mr. President. It was an incredible experience.’ More: Entertainment Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury celebrate his brother Tyson Fury’s boxing win in Vegas Woman transforms KFC bucket into beautiful vase and people can’t get enough Jada Pinkett Smith confronts Snoop Dogg over Gayle King comments: ‘My heart dropped’ Fury would be able to take his newly acquired WBC title, and his reclaimed Ring Magazine belt, both of which he won on Saturday night. Having won the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles when he beat Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf in 2015, Fury has now completed the collection of world honours in his division. Anthony Joshua now holds those four belts that he relinquished in 2016 due to inactivity, and a huge all-British clash between the pair would see an undisputed heavyweight champion crowned. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has called for the fight to be made, but Wilder has 30 days from his defeat to invoke a rematch clause and take on Fury for a third time, so the ball is in his court.
