As Two Nuclear Powers Ready Themselves for Imminent War, Your Majesty, We Need You, Ma’hm.Photo Credit: BBCNews, Caston George The United States of America has already attacked and killed a high ranking Iranian official in Qasem Soleimani, an Iranian General who was killed in air strikes in Baghdad. The justification or outrageousness for those airstrikes are not the purpose of this article. As I type these words, in the last few minutes, it was reported on international news media that Iran has launched missiles in counterstrike, currently targeted for US bases in Iraq. Their counterstrike shall invite the US to strike again. Right now, into the gulf, are headed ships from both sides, armed, and ready for combat. There is another power, too, however, which is also positioning itself, with reinforcements arriving, at full speed ahead: The Royal Navy. The Royal Navy has a mission, it has been reported, similar to the plot of the television series The West Wing, wherein, upon an oil field, Russia and China marched toward one another, ready to instigate a third world war, and President Jed Bartlet ordered American forces to stand in between them to prevent it. That seems to be Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s goal, as the Royal Navy puts itself between two nuclear powers, in the hopes of staving off a flash point that could see the start of a terrible, and disastrous war, that would claim Lord knows how many lives. Hope seems to be in short supply, especially here in America, where I write this. I am not so ready to give up hope, just yet. There is one Power however, which is back on the board, and which has been out of play for a while, but this Power is our last and best hope. That Power is the full might and force of the British Empire. Britain alone cannot prevent America, under its current premier, from launching itself head first into a full scale war, and with an administration that has indicated that it has no reverence for the lives which have been lost in the past to, nor does it have any fear of using today, the bomb. Boris Johnson, as Prime Minister, can direct the Ministry of Defence to act, but he can only influence Britain’s armed forces. Destiny has a strange way of choosing they who would save us. Saviours are oftentimes never who you would expect them to be. With Brexit now imminent and unstoppable, there is a benefit to departing the EU at the end of the month that is not being talked about by many, except for whispers at the moment, amongst those who have not given up an age-old dream, who, in hushed words, are sparking hope for a peaceful outcome in the hearts of they who have not given up hope. Those words are: Queen Elizabeth II. Your Majesty, destiny calls, and the moment has now come for you to save the world. Likely, it is a destiny Her Majesty never expected, in her wildest dreams, to ever come close to falling upon, let alone resting, upon her shoulders. But much like the Crown, which also was something she was not raised expecting to have placed upon her head, if there is anyone upon God’s earth who can save us, it’s her. Sixty five years on the throne. Fourteen Prime Ministers. Thousands of laws signed. Forty nine laws vetoed. Lord knows how many laws, and lives, she has influenced, perhaps even saved, with behind closed doors negotiations and through the mighty Power of Royal Authority and Influence she is responsible for. A recent documentary named her, rightly so, The Queen Of The World. And, make no mistake about it, she is. The Queen alone is Commander-In-Chief of ALL of the armed forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most of the other 54 nations that comprise the Commonwealth of Nations. The Commonwealth of Nations also has another name not in much use these days, but circumstances being what they are, and in the interest in calling a spade a spade: The British Empire. All of the soldiers, officers, airmen, navymen, and armed forces of a lot of countries around the world are not sworn to their own countries and their laws and governments, they are sworn to Queen Elizabeth. In fact, they swear their allegiance to the Crown, and to nobody else. That’s why they’re called Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. Which means, that if the British Empire, even temporarily, were to re-unite and put itself between the United States and Iran, and say, “NO”… they will come to the peace table, and war can be averted. As the news of Iranian counterstrikes came, I had on, in the background for white noise, please don’t mock me, the Power Rangers Movie, as happenstance. I saw the news break, and as my heart sank into my chest, my eyes flickered over to my television screen, as this scene played. “They know the fate of the world is lying in their hands…” played the theme song, as the six of heroes of the film, summoned their powerful vehicles, called “zords”, to combine together, whereas they were separate individual machines to begin with. They combined together, each forming a part of a greater machine, to combat a threat greater than they could, individually, face on their own and stand their ground, and more importantly, defend the city they were charged to protect. And inspiration hit me. The British Empire is the only chance we have at preventing one nuclear power that disregards treaties and other solemn pledges it has made, and does what it wants through wealth and force regardless of consequence, and another nuclear power, which will use its nuclear weapons against the other power, because it must in order to defend itself, as the weaker of the two. Even my most hardheaded and staunchest Republican friends might even find themselves in the strange position of the Power Rangers’ normal antagonists, Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa, rooting for they who they would normally be battling against, as their last hope at stopping an even greater evil, that threatened them all. I can hear them now, “Go Your Majesty! Go Get ’em! Don’t give up! Come on!” Blessed are they who step between the bullies and the weak. And blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the Children of God. Your Majesty, I beseech you, on behalf of an uneasy world, please: We need you. May God Save The Queen, and indeed, us all. Rule Britannia, let’s take care of business.
