Hours after the embarrassing gaffe, Mr. Trump tweeted again, trying to correct his mistake. “Of course I knew Marie Yovanovitch was no relation to Weird Al, who is a dear friend of mine. What I said was that her testimony was so fake, it was funny.” When that explanation did not fly on social media, the president backtracked in his typically clumsy fashion: “During my very close relationship with Weird Al Yankovic, he admitted to me that Marie Yovanovitch was his sister.
