Donald Trump is in the UK for three days (Picture: Getty/Rex) Donald Trump arrived in the UK on Monday morning for his state visit and he has already met with the Queen and dined with her at Buckingham Palace. He will meet with Theresa May on day two of his visit before she officially resigns from her Prime Minister, and he will then hold a press conference this afternoon. Anti-Trump protests will be held around London today and the baby Donald Trump blimp will make a return as it is launched in Parliament Square. Here is everything that you need to know about where Donald Trumps is staying and its American history. Where is Donald Trump staying during UK visit? Donald Trump is staying at the Winfield House during his three day visit to the UK. Normally the head of state would stay at Buckingham Palace during their visit, which is what happened to Barack Obama and George W Bush where they were invited by the Queen. The reason this hasn’t happened for Trump is because of the renovations currently taking place at Buckingham Palace, which makes it unsuitable to host the President during his stay. Winfield House is usually the home of the US Ambassador (Picture: High Level/REX) It is expected to cost around £369 million to renovate and work on the restoration got underway last year, but it isn’t expected to be completed until 2025. The Queen was still able to host the banquet on the first day of his state visit, and her majesty was also able to show him the Royal collection. Winfield House is the US Ambassador’s residence and is located in Regents Park. It is also nearby to London Central Mosque, and Donald Trump may hear the call to prayer today as Ramadan comes to an end. The building will be Donald Trump’s home throughout his stay (Picture: Mandel Ngan/AFP/Getty Images) It has been an important building for American politics in the UK (Photo by Zuma/REX (3652411b) The mansion covers around 12 acres of land, making it one of the largest private gardens in London. It is a Grade II listed building and was first commissioned by American Barbara Hutton in 1936. After the Second World War, she sold it to the American government and it became their ambassador’s official residence in 1955. The current US ambassador to the UK is Woody Johnson, who has been in the position since January 2017.
