He’ll meet the Queen, have a reception in Downing Street, and attend a ceremony to mark 75 years since the D-Day landings in Portsmouth. He’ll also be met by thousands of protesters planning to gather in Trafalgar Square in anger at his views and policies. Before he’s even arrived, his visit has caused controversy. Mr Trump has spoken out to say Britain should leave the UK with no deal and send Nigel Farage to negoatiate, while he branded Meghan Markle ‘nasty’ for comments she made about him. Sadiq Khan said history will judge his visit with ‘regret’. Here’s a rundown of what to expect from his visit, lasting for three days. Monday June 3 He’ll arrive on Air Force One (Picture: Reuters) President Trump will arrive on Air Force One, his private jet, in the morning. He will then have a private lunch with the Queen and tea at Clarence House with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. After this, he will attend a lavish state banquet at Buckingham Palace. The Trumps and their grown children are expected to meet the younger generation of royals, including Prince William and Kate. Prince Harry is also set to meet the Trumps, but his wife Meghan is expected to stay at home with their newborn son Archie. Tuesday June 4 He will attend a state banquet such as this one, held in hour of President of China Xi Jinping in 2015 (Picture: Getty) There will be a business breakfast with the prime minister and Duke of York at St James’ Palace. Mr Trump will then visit Downing Street for talks with Theresa May, followed by a joint press conference. It will be one of Theresa May’s last public speeches, as she has agreed to step down as prime minister on June 7 after the state visit is concluded. In the evening, Donald and Melania Trump will host a dinner at the US ambassador’s home Winfield House, which will be attended by Prince Charles and Camilla. Wednesday June 5 Donald Trump during his last UK visit (Picture: Getty) Donald Trump will attend the 75th anniversary commemoration in Portsmouth of the D-Day landings. He will join more than 300 veterans of the landings in Normandy for a service including a flypast and display by the Red Arrows. The Queen and Prince of Wales will be attending.
