Trump baby is back (Picture: AP) The Trump baby blimp will fly again after a £30,000 fundraising target was smashed. Owners of the 20ft balloon had pledged it would only take to the sky during the state visit if they raised enough money for charity. With a day to go before the president lands in the UK, they announced they had passed the goal. ‘Trump Baby will fly again over Donald Trump’s first UK state visit,’ the organisers celebrated. It’s expected to be in the same place as last time, Parliament Square, for two hours from 9am on Tuesday, the second day of Mr Trump’s UK visit. The blimp, which can be flown up to 100ft in the air, depicts the US president wearing a nappy and clutching a mobile phone. LOOK AT MY INCREDIBLE NUMBERS! Yuge official news just in – I WILL fly again over London! London town is very great and special place for me, so many good memories – and I know the people of London are some of my Biggest fans! Can’t wait to give my people what they want! pic.twitter.com/CoY5GDH0B6 — Trump Baby (@TrumpBabyUK) June 2, 2019 A spokesman for the team behind the blimp said they had received permission to deploy the inflatable from the Greater London Authority, headed by London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and the Civil Aviation Authority. Final sign-off from the Metropolitan Police is expected to be granted on Monday, with organisers confident this will happen. Last time Trump visited the UK, in July last year, the blimp became a focal point of protests – though some complained that they thought it would have been larger. It’s expected to fly over Parliament Square again (Picture: PA) This time around, the blimp tram are hoping to harness the notoriety to raise money for charities in the US and UK ‘fighting Trump’s policies and their impact on communities’, including in relation to climate change and women’s reproductive rights. After reaching the £30,000 target, organisers raised it to £50,000 to give the charities an ‘even bigger boost’. Ajuub Faraji, a Trump blimp ‘babysitter’, said: ‘Trump is a dangerous, divisive demagogue and we’re thrilled that the public have put their hands in their pockets to support groups fighting the impacts of his policies. ‘Trump will try his best to avoid the public on his trip, but with Trump Baby flying we’re sending a very clear message of solidarity to those affected by his despicable politics – and saying loud and clear that the US president doesn’t deserve the red carpet treatment being given to him by the Government.’ Got a story for Metro.co.uk?
