Prince Charles has spoken of his fears surrounding climate change and that change is happening ‘too slowly’ to save the planet (Picture: Getty) Prince Charles has said he fears it may be too late to save the natural world and that it has been ‘really difficult’ to persuade people of the harmful impact humans have on the planet. The Prince of Wales – who last week challenged US President Donald Trump on his views of climate change – said loss of biological diversity ‘terrifies’ him. Charles, 70, told the Daily Telegraph change to reverse environmental destruction and end the climate crisis is happening ‘too slowly’. He said it was ‘really difficult’ to persuade people of an ‘alternative way’ which could reduce people’s impact on the planet. The prince met with Trump during his state visit to the UK this week when the topic was discussed. The president withdrew the US from the Paris Climate Agreement and has accused climate experts of having a ‘political agenda’. In an interview with GMB while in the UK, he said that Charles did ‘most of the talking’ during their 90-minute chat. He told Piers Morgan: ‘It used to be called global warming, then it was called climate change. Now it’s extreme weather.’ Charles said: ‘If change is happening, it’s happening very slowly – too slowly – and it’s coming too late. ‘This is what frightens me. ‘The increasing loss of biological diversity terrifies me, and the fact that we seem to have forgotten that everything in nature is interconnected, including ourselves.’ Got a story for Metro.co.uk?
