Members of the Baby Trump Balloon team are inflating the blimp in Parliament Square ahead of a march through central London (Picture: PA) The giant Donald Trump baby blimp will soon by flying over Parliament Square in protest against the presidents UK state visit. A cordon has been set up around the 20ft balloon version of Trump – complete with nappy and mobile phone. Organisers of an anti-Trump protest in central London today hope baby Trump will be up in the air by 10am. A team of organisers wearing red jumpsuits and hats marked ‘Trump Babysitters’ prepared the site where the balloon was to be inflated – beginning the task at around 8.30am. Parliament Square is a stone’s throw from the Houses of Parliament, where nearby roads are sealed off and police are standing guard in anticipation of large protests. Trump and first lady Melania are due to meet Theresa May at Downing street at just after 11am – the same time the Stop Trump march will kick off. A crowd of up to 250,000 people could join in the protest against the president’s divisive policies today. Labour MP Emily Thornberry supports the protesters today and said Mr Trump needed to be stood up to ‘like the way you deal with a bully’ because ‘if you bow down in front of them you just get kicked harder’. Speaking at Parliament Square, Shaista Aziz, from the Stop Trump coalition, said the demonstration was ‘very exciting’ and the Trump blimp has ‘captured the world’s imagination’. The group has raised £30,000 ahead of the blimp’s flight, for charities they say help groups and minorities affected by Trump’s policies. Shaista said: ‘It’s very significant the fact that you can raise that much money in two weeks, there’s a will to have this in the air. ‘We know that this will definitely annoy Trump.’ Referring to tweets slamming London mayor Sadiq Khan, she said the president has conducted himself in a ‘disgraceful manner’ since arriving in London and that helps the protesters’ cause. ‘It helps us shine a light on the very serious issues around this Trump presidency,’ she added.
