Trump will be kept safe by 10,000 police officers (Picture: Getty Images) An unprecedented £25,000,000 security operation will be put into place next week as Donald Trump arrives in the UK. Up to 10,000 police officers have been drafted into London to protect the US President during his visit. There will also be 120 police support units, each with 125 officers trained in riot control, and helicopters supplying support from the air. Rest days and leave has been cancelled, a spokesperson confirmed. Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are expected to descend on the capital in protest of the American leader’s presence. The president will be making his UK state visit next week (Picture: Rex Features) Officers will be brought in from across the UK (Picture: Getty Images) The Met Police have already vowed to take a tough line with campaigners, having previously been criticised for the ‘soft’ treatment of environmental protesters in April. How to watch Liverpool vs Tottenham It is thought campaigners will be organising ‘stunts’ to disrupt Trump’s itinerary, with 17 coach loads of people arriving from across the country. Roads around Buckingham Palace and Westminster will be shut as a ‘secure zone’, while barriers will be put in place by Downing Street, in Whitehall. Ken Marsh, chairman of the Met Police Federation, told The Times: ‘It is not very clear what the demonstrators are planning.
