The team behind the blimp intend to fly it at Parliament Square on Tuesday during President Trump’s state visit and have applied to the Greater London Authority for permission. Organisers say that behind the phone-wielding, nappy-wearing inflatable, is a serious message to tackle President Trump’s rhetoric of hate. Organiser Kevin Smith told Metro.co.uk: ‘We’re not planning to do anything different to the last time we flew it, so we expect to get permission. ‘The main motivation for flying this effigy is to try to create a symbol that crystalises what Trump represents, in terms of his ego, the immaturity of his politics. Organisers hope that the six-meter high cartoon baby blimp of U.S. President Donald Trump will be flown at Parliament Square on Tuesday (Picture: AP) ‘It was never just about flying a balloon, it was more than that, it’s about ordinary people coming together to stand up against hate. ‘We wanted to stand in solidarity with migrant groups, with women’. However, the blimp, part of the Stop Trump coalition group, will only be unleashed if a fundraising page for charities ‘pushing back against the politics of hate and division’ hits £30,000. So far, £18,369 has been raised. Mr Trump will spend three days in the UK on a trip that includes lunch with the Queen at Buckingham Palace and meetings with Prime Minister Theresa May.
