But he’s not the only over-the-hill, egotistical, white windbag triggering my bloviator alert. I put Bernie, Biden and Bloomberg in the same camp along with Trump (so does humorist Fran Lebowitz). As well as the less alliterative, but still wannabe geezer candidates John Kerry (yup, he’s thinking of running again), the coffee capitalist Howard Schultz (grande-sized schmuck), and California Dreamer Jerry Brown (oh, look, another B). Why do all these 70-plus-year white guys think they represent the future of our nation? All four pictured above would be over 80 in office. Is that the best we can do for a political locomotive to propel a progressive vision for America? Please stop, all you mossbacks. Take your anecdotes from the 1950’s and write a memoir. Or pad your retirement savings by giving motivational speeches to the Chamber of Commerce. But let young liberal visionaries with a truly new perspective (Green New Deal!) lead us out of this crisis of democracy that you all got us into in the first place! Take your fortunes (talking to you Bloomberg and Schultz) and use them to support whichever energetic Democratic candidate you like who has the stamina to power us past the damage wrought by the current Cheater-In-Chief. Let me be clear: Yes, I’d take any one of these bygone Blue Boys over the moron Benedict Donald. But I’d much rather have Booker or Beto (what’s with the B’s?), or even better, Kamala or Kirsten (revenge of the K’s). I’m not saying all this as a Young Turk eager to see my peers in positions of power either. I’m 62. And while not dead yet, I’m old enough to know that the country isn’t waiting for my fresh ideas on political reform and progressiveness. So, gentlemen, I want to thank you for your tireless service to America. Sincerely.
