Kim Kardashian claps back at Donald Trump criticism (Picture: Twitter/CNN) Kim Kardashian has something to say to people throwing shade at her for working with President Donald Trump. Spoiler alert: She does not give a toss about what you think, as long as it means she can save lives. The Keeping Up With The Kardashian star – who is working on getting a law degree – is already making her dent on the scene. This comes after Kim and her lawyer Shawn Holley successfully petitioned Trump to commute the life sentence of non-violent drug offender Alice Marie Johnson, which led to the First Step Act being passed. In the process, Kim visited the White House and had a meeting with the president in the Oval Office and has since maintained a relationship with the administration and is working with officials to try to obtain more clemencies. But some fans do not like the idea of Kim getting involved in politics. Speaking to CNN’s Van Jones Show in an interview aired on Saturday, she said: ‘So many people would say to me, “Don’t go to the White House, your career will be over. Don’t go there,” and I just kinda weighed the decision where it was like, to save a life, or to get maybe bad tweets about me or a bad news story for a few days.’ Kim is working on getting a law degree (Picture: Rex Features) She added: ‘I guarantee you the people sitting behind bars do not care who the president is. They just want that relief. And so if I could have done that, I don’t care.’ She told Van Jones that people write to her ‘every time there is an issue going on in the White House, which is pretty often.’ The mother-of-three, who is one of the most popular individuals on Instagram with 135 million followers, said she is trying to use her fame to bring about more political change. ‘I think that people, I see on Twitter people writing me all the time, “Kim, do something, do this, do that,” and I have been very honest with the administration,’ she said. ‘I have been very honest with everyone, from Jared [Kushner] and Ivanka [Trump], to everyone in the White House about how I feel about immigration in particular and we’ve had the conversations.’ She continued: ‘The reality is, I can’t do everything. I’m not in that position and if I can change people’s lives in a different area, I have to focus on that and I have definitely voiced my opinion on other things and requested things in other areas.’ Kim has already been offered a job at a law firm with OJ’s attorney (Picture: Rex Features) It is very likely that Kim will continue such work as she is studying for a law degree and has already been offered a law job with OJ Simpson’s attorney Robert Shapiro. Shapiro, like Kim’s late father Robert Kardashian Snr, was a part of OJ Simpson’s famous legal team during his 1995 murder trial. OJ was acquitted of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman. Kim’s interview comes as it was reported that the star would receive the Women Leadership in Law Award along with her lawyer Holley. According to TMZ, the pair will be handed their awards, sponsored by The California Lawyer and the Daily Journal, at a conference in Beverly Hills in May. The 38-year-old and her attorney were sent letters praising them for their ‘life-changing’ work. They were told: ‘You both are truly inspirational, and your work has been life-changing.’ Well, ain’t that something? Got a showbiz story?
