She’s scooping up awards (Picture: Allstar/FOX SEARCHLIGHT PICTURES) Melissa McCarthy has won a Golden Raspberry for her roles in The Happytime Murders and Life of the Party ahead of her Oscar nomination for Can You Ever Forgive Me? It’s no easy feat. The Bridesmaids star joined President Donald Trump and Kellyanne Conway, who both featured in film as themselves, to win the not-so-coveted award. Sherlock Holmes rehash Holmes and Watson was also a big winner, scooping up four awards including Worst Director and Worst Remake, Rip Off, or Sequel. Meanwhile, our fave category is always the Worst Screen Combo which, this year, went to none other than ‘Donald J Trump & His Self Perpetuating Pettiness, Death of a Nation & Fahrenheit 11/9’. She starred alongside Richard E Grant, who’s also nominated for an Oscar (Picture: M Cybulski/20thCenturyFox/Kobal/REX/Shutterstock) A round of applause, please. Sadly, the 48-year-old couldn’t pick up her award in person since there’s no longer a physical ceremony to celebrate the worst films in Hollywood. However, her Oscar nomination didn’t pass the Razzies by, as they presented her with the ‘Razzie Redeemer Award’ for Can You Ever Forgive Me? Silver linings, right? View this post on Instagram This is how I feel about getting an Oscar nomination today for @canyoueverforgiveme Thank you from the bottom and top of my heart to @theacademy A post shared by Melissa McCarthy (@melissamccarthy) on Jan 22, 2019 at 3:53pm PST Melissa follows in the footsteps of Emma Watson, Jennifer Lawrence, Tom Cruise and Zac Efron, who have previously been ‘honoured’ with the award. And she might go on to hold the same record as Sandra Bullock, who made a splash in 2010 when she won a Razzie and an Oscar in the same year for her roles in All About Steve and The Blind Side. But she took it all in her stride as she turned up to collect her less than prestigious award with a trailer full of DVDs of the offending movie. What a woman. Grant – who’s also nominated for an Oscar – and Marielle Heller. ‘This is how I feel about getting an Oscar nomination today for @canyoueverforgiveme,’ she wrote. ‘Thank you from the bottom and top of my heart to @theacademy.’ We can only assume she feels exactly the same about her Razzie.
