(Credit: slate.com) President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that the Chinese landed a rover on the moon last week in order to build a wall to keep out invading aliens. First photographs from the Chinese rover show no signs of wall building. (Credit: www.businessinsider.com) “That was very sneaky what they did, landing on the hidden side of the moon, but also very smart,” said the president. “The Chinese don’t want us to see that they’re building a big wall up there to keep out the aliens, because they’re beating us to it. They understand what I’ve been saying all along, that only a beautiful wall can keep aliens out.” President Trump seemed to be conflating two of his constant obsessions — building a physical wall on the southern border with Mexico to keep out illegal aliens here on earth and his often spoke about desire to send astronauts back to the moon. NASA scientists issued a statement saying there is no evidence that landing on the far side of the moon was a “sneaky” move by the Chinese, as Mr. Trump claimed, or anything more than a well-publicized scientific mission to use their Yutu-2 rover to gather data about a side of the moon that has never been explored. While speaking with reporters on Thursday, the president doubled-down saying that “American needs to build a wall up there first. That’s why I’ve ordered our NASA people to get a ship ready and to land on the moon by February with a nice payload of bricks so we can start putting up our own anti-alien moon wall.
