The ultimate cartoon face-off? (Picture: FOX) Family Guy have never been shy about mocking celebrities and the most powerful people in the world, with even the President of the USA being a regular target in their satirical cross-hairs. After lampooning his Oval Office predecessors over the years – yes, even Obama – Donald Trump finally got the Family Guy treatment during last night’s mercilessly ridiculous episode. Trump Guy saw Peter being hired as Trump’s new press secretary, with the President’s family and administration then being torn apart by the Family Guy team – as the below scene featuring his daughter Ivanka and Meg Griffin demonstrates. NOT FAKE NEWS! I’m doing the voice of @realDonaldTrump on next week’s @FamilyGuyonFOX! 🍊 pic.twitter.com/39Mbtj878B — Josh Robert Thompson (@joshrthompson) January 8, 2019 The episode concluded with Peter resigning his position and then, in true Family Guy tradition, becoming embroiled in a protracted fight sequence with his new nemesis: Donald Trump. Family Guy showrunners Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin recently spoke about the challenge of sending up Trump, with Appel summing up the situation rather nicely by telling Entertainment Weekly: ‘I think you could say: As Americans, we’re horrified. As comedy writers, we’re gratified.’ Live scenes from the Oval Office (Picture: FOX) But what did the fans think? Well, given how close the 2016 election was in terms of the popular vote, it’s no surprise to discover that viewers were split on Family Guy’s ribbing of the President. There was plenty of love for Trump Guy from those who actively dislike Trump, including Taraji P. Henson: WHO IS WATCHING #FAMILYGUY RIGHT NOW?!?! OMGGGG The accuracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SCREAMING AND 💀💀💀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💅🏾 — Taraji P. Henson (@TherealTaraji) January 14, 2019 #FamilyGuy just roasted the absolute crap out of @realDonaldTrump. This is HILARIOUS!!! #TrumpAsAButternutSquash — Shane (The Big Dawg) Lake #dawgpoundinc (@DawgPoundInc) January 14, 2019 they did it… they actually did it. #FamilyGuy pic.twitter.com/AUMQ1JFAUu — Erica De (@iAmErica90) January 14, 2019 I can guarantee that the dumbest portion of the country is going to be really upset with tonight’s #FamilyGuy — Jake (@JakeDPowers) January 14, 2019 Tonight’s #FamilyGuy was brilliant!!! Hats off to @SethMacFarlane !! — Chris Pippin (@chris_pippin) January 14, 2019 The other side of the divide, though, didn’t take too kindly to the madness of Trump Guy. I love trump and I hate family guy. One of the worst shows ever invented. #FamilyGuy — Jackson Fitch (@thatsicy) January 14, 2019 @SethMacFarlane That Was The Worst Episode of #familyguy i ever Seen. This was So Disrespectful that you should be arrested. You do not treat the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES like this. You should be ashamed of yourself and I hope the show gets canceled. Fox is republican BTW — Wyatt The Creator #TeamSonic (@WyattDaOfficial) January 14, 2019 Worst episode of family guy ever. Please don’t ruin the show I’ve watched as a child. #Familyguy — 🇺🇸☕️Covfefe☕️🇩🇴 (@deplorable_kevG) January 14, 2019 Hi just watched family guy, all about you. It was awful, insulting, you need to watch it and sue them for every penny they have. I’m sorry about what they did and said. — Shelley Porter (@Shelley43542316) January 14, 2019 @familyguy really? Can you stay away from politics and insulting the entire #GOP party! #familguy sucks right now! #thissucks now — Gabriel Antonio (@G_Antonio6) January 14, 2019 Although there was one anomaly which Family Guy creator and Peter Griffin voice actor Seth MacFarlane highlighted: Family Guy EPs @thesulk and Rich Appel deserve the credit, but glad you got some laughs. Since you’re a good sport, I’m gonna go watch a Ronald Reagan movie. https://t.co/AP8JnfmS4K — Seth MacFarlane (@SethMacFarlane) January 14, 2019 Sadly, there’s been no comment from the Tweeter-In-Chief yet – but you wouldn’t rule out a Family Guy takedown being on his morning agenda today… Family Guy airs Sundays on Fox in the US, with a later UK release date to be confirmed.
