Truth In SatireTrump Says Any Nation That Invests Billions In U.S., “Is Free To Kill Journalists”President invites despots to “murder the media all you want, just be sure to make a nice investment in America first”“If they want to kill journalists, who am I stop them, especially if they have some investment capital?”(Credit: www.michigansthumb.com/) Despite the CIA’s conclusion that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed by Saudi assassins, President Donald Trump is standing by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and even invited more media murders “as long as our authoritarian friends around the world make a nice investment in America first.” The president’s outrageous comment follows a week when he steadfastly refused to punish the Saudis even though lawmakers in his own party and international allies insist that the Saudi crown prince must be held accountable for the slaying. “Look, we have really good business relations with Saudi Arabia,” said Mr. Trump, “they pump billions, maybe even gazillions of dollars into our economy, adding millions of jobs here. That means more to me and to most Americans, frankly, than the murder of one journalist, especially one that I’m not even sure is a citizen. Honestly, I’m hoping to make more deals with despots in the future where I look the other way while they kill media members in exchange for sending us lots of cash for our economy. It’s a win-win.” Asked if he understood how dangerous his statements were to the rule of law and a free press around the world, the president was resolute: “Listen, the failing New York Times and horrible Washington Post would be doing even worse if we didn’t have strong leaders in tough countries knocking off reporters and making donations to the U.S. for that privilege. We all make money and it’s beautiful. Plus those papers get a lot of great stories this way.” The president added that his plan was working so well, “I’m thinking of offering a two-fer: Any country can kill one journalist and one comedian of their choice and our government will ignore it in exchange for $200 billion to pay for my wall and other infrastructure projects. I don’t think any other president has thought of that. It’s huge. We’re making history.” Marlene Frasier of The Committee To Protect Journalists called the president’s open approval of the murder of journalists in exchange for investments in the U.S. “the most horrific act of irresponsible and perilous leadership that I have seen in my lifetime. All freedom-loving governments need to immediately speak as one to condemn President Trump and protect journalists from this madman.” As of this writing, reporters, correspondents, columnists, writers, investigative journalists, photojournalists, newspapermen and newspaperwomen across the globe are waiting for responsible leaders to speak with one voice to defend the free press. **** Thanks for your claps.
