(Credit: usatoday.com and www.picsunday.com) Borrowing from Donald Trump’s own playbook, President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico told supporters in a speech on Monday that “we must prevent America’s many racists and “loco” Republicans from entering our country by digging a very deep, very wide, very wet moat along our northern border.” Another view of the moat Mexico plans to dig to prevent America’s racists and Republicans from crossing its border. (Credit: minebook.me) Lopez Obrador was reacting in part to President Trump using the derogatory Spanish term “loco” in referring to the White House press corps on Monday. The Mexican president’s words were also reminiscent of a rant Mr. Trump made in 2015 in which he vowed to build a wall along America’s southern border because, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…They’re sending people that have lots of problems…they’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Mr. Lopez Obrador did not, however, say that the United States would pay for his moat, a claim that Mr. Trump has made many times in reverse, insisting that Mexico would pay for his wall. Lopez Obrador said that Mexican military personnel would be searching beach resorts looking for Americans who might have crossed the moat illegally. (Credit: www.nytimes.com) “If I wait for Trump to pay for our moat it will never happen,” said Mexico’s president-elect, who will be sworn in on December 1st. “He’s a liar, a crook and a cheat so we’d never get a cent out of him. Our ‘Anti-America Moat’ is too important.
