Kanye West is distancing himself from politics and Donald Trump (Picture: EPA) Kanye West is officially stepping away from the world of politics, after months of being pally with Donald Trump. Does this mean the 41-year-old won’t be running for president in 2020 after all? Taking to Twitter – where else – the rapper now known as Ye revealed he ‘realises he’s been used to spread messages he doesn’t believe in’. ‘I support creating jobs and opportunities for people who need them the most, I support prison reform, I support common-sense gun laws that will make our world safer,’ he began a string of tweets. My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!! — ye (@kanyewest) October 30, 2018 ‘I believe in love and compassion for people seeking asylum and parents who are fighting to protect their children from violence and war. ‘I support those who risk their lives to serve and protect us and I support holding people who misuse their power accountable.’ He then spoke about the controversial line of ‘Blexit’ shirts he apparently designed, endorsing a ‘black exit from the Democrat party’. However, the dad-of-three claimed he didn’t want to be associated with the movement – and has nothing to do with it. Giving a shout out to wife Kim Kardashian, he continued: ‘I would like to thank my family, loved ones, and community for supporting my ACTUAL beliefs and my vision for a better world. Kanye and Trump had a love-in at the White House (Picture: Rex) ‘I introduced Candace to the person who made the logo and they didn’t want their name on it so she used mine. I never wanted any association with Blexit. I have nothing to do with it. ‘My eyes are now wide open and now realise I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative!!!’ Kanye’s words come just weeks after he met with Donald Trump in a highly-publicised meeting at the White House. The pair sat down for a face-to-face chat in the Oval office, with Yeezy digging out his beloved Make America Great Again cap especially for the trip. At one point, he branded himself a ‘crazy motherfucker’ before launching into a huge monologue about why the 13th amendment is a ‘trap door’ that should be abolished. Kim is all for Kanye voicing his opinions in public (Picture: Getty) While mother-in-law Kris Jenner recently revealed she would rather Kanye had not gone public with some of his more controversial views – aka when he said slavery was a choice – Kim revealed she has no problem with it. In fact, she told pal Alec Baldwin: ‘I let him be who he wants to be. [We] definitely have conversations if I don’t understand something in private and talk about that.’ Petition for those chats to be aired on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, please? Got a story?
