Not of the reasons for Trump to be judged before he moved into 1600 Pennsylvania, but now. My life hasn’t improved. Has yours? With that said, the question was: Why do liberals judge Trump by what he has done or said before he was president and never look at how he has improved their life now? There are two parts to your question: why do people judge Trump based on the past and why do people not appreciate what he has done for them in the last 1.5 years. Why do people judge Trump based on the past? Trump is 72 years, 2 months, and 14 days old. He has spent about 1 year, 7 months, and 8 days as POTUS. If you did the math, you would know that Trump has only spent 2.22% of his life as POTUS. Just as you would not want anyone to judge you based solely on that one embarrassing moment in high school, we can’t just disregard 97.78% on Trump’s life despite the fervor with which Trumpublicans want to. My mother always said that who you are when no one is watching is your true character. That’s why things like the Access Hollywood tape were big. That’s how Trump behaves when he thinks that no one (except Billy Bush) is listening. The lawsuits against him for racism and sexual misconduct are innumerable. His involvement with the slander of the (innocent) Central Park Five was wrong. Why do people not appreciate what Trump has done so far? What’s there to appreciate? Tax bill- sure it added a few bucks to some paychecks this year, but experts agree that its going to only continue to do that to wealthiest people after a few years. International credibility- Our country’s respect is getting flushed down the toilet and Trump’s “diplomacy” is to blame. With Trump alienating allies like the UK and Australia and warming up to Russia, he is starting to no longer be the leader of the free world. “America first” might have worked well 100 years ago, but in today’s globalized world, we will fall behind if we continue to isolate ourselves. North Korea- When I first heard about the North Korea summit, I was cautiously optimistic. Then it actually took place. Trump saluted a North Korean general and gave up the joint US-SK war games receiving only a vague promise from Kim to begin to denuclearize. Environment- Just because other countries weren’t pulling their weight in the Paris Climate Accords, doesn’t mean that we pull out all together. What happened to being the city on the hill? And anyway, we are one of the largest contributors of carbon dioxide in the world so it makes sense that we would have to do more than other countries. CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL. We are seeing the effects today and these will only grow in the years to come if the gutting of the EPA continues. There are many many more things I could cite, but I am getting depressed just typing this all out. So please, judge Trump for who he is and what he has done. Maybe if a few more people did this instead of listening to Fox “News”, the world would be a much better place.
