US Vice President Mike Pence has said he would take a lie-detector test ‘in a heartbeat’ to prove that he did not write the explosive op-ed in the New York Times. He said that he had never been involved in a conversation about removing Donald Trump from the Oval Office, and denied that members of the administration had secretly considered invoking the 25th amendment. This would allow the Vice President – Pence – to ascend to the Oval Office if the current President is not able to perform their duties. Since its publication, whispers have been rife within Washington about who penned the piece. Pence has been regarded as a suspect, along with the Defence Secretary and the Chief of Staff.
