Louis Theroux has a new series on the way (Picture: JACK TAYLOR/AFP/Getty Images) Famed documentary maker Louis Theroux is preparing to return to the small screen following a two-year hiatus. The renowned investigative journalist, who is the man behind the critically-acclaimed documentaries The Most Hated Family in America and My Scientology Movie, has announced that he is set to release a new series this winter after an extended trip to the US. Speaking to The Sun at The National Lottery Awards, he said: ‘I’ve got a series coming up, it’s coming out in November. I can’t say much about it. But it’s a three-parter and it’s set in America. BBC 2.’ In 2016, Louis sobering Drinking to Oblivion and A Different Brain, which saw him take a look at issues some people face living with the long-term effects of a brain injury, were well received by audiences. Louis has kept tight-lipped on what subject he will be investigating but he one clue is that the focus will once again be America. He first gained recognition in the late 90s for Weird Weekends, a TV series in which he chatted to a variety of bizarre but fascinating characters, including UFO fanatics, televangelists, porn stars, swingers and hypnotists. Although the British TV star said that his next project will focus on Donald Trump’s journey from real estate mogul to US President, he said that the US leader was still on his bucket list of famous faces to interview. ‘Trump would be amazing. I always used to say R Kelly, because there were allegations over sexual misconduct.
